1888 A35 Goodwin & Co. "Baseball Champions" Premium Round Album. The Goodwin Co. awarded a 12-page lithographed album via a mail-in offer as a premium to smokers of Old Judge and Dog's Head brands. Today, we call this the "Round Album" for its shape and recognize it as one of the more amazing displays of artist accomplishment of the multitude of 19th Century tobacco offerings. Intact albums are extremely rare but the production of this album was so high quality that the single 8" circular pages are offered individually and gladly accepted by hobbyists. Presented is a complete album with the greats of the game like Cap Anson, Charles Comiskey, Mike Kelly and Montgomery Ward on individual pages with Buck Ewing, Tim Keefe, Roger Conner and Mickey Welch sharing space along with finely detailed decorations, all grand style. The front cover is loose. Both covers had reinforced grommets added. Interior pages present at the excellent level. An absolutely stunning piece every collector should have.Auction Info
