    1884 Lawson's Patent Game "Base Ball" Playing Cards Complete Set (38) - Upscale Variation. One of the first card games devoted to the growing national pastime. From 1884, offered is a 38-card complete set of Lawson's "Base Ball" playing cards. Included are 36 playing cards with baseball terms and imagery, plus two score cards. Also included is the very rare instructional booklet and original brown card board box. The box presents NM, the booklet is in excellent condition. The all-important cards are all excellent to excellent-mint. This presentation is an upscale version of the standard version. The reverse of these cards have a maroon color background while most are in blue with a gold metallic finish around the outer border. This box is much sturdier construction and features gold metallic lettering.
