Description
Circa 1920 Walter H. Johnson "Ball Game" 5-Cent Wrapper. Some years ago an extremely rare Yellow & Blue candy box advertising "Ball Game" for the Walter H. Johnson Candy Co. based out of Chicago, Ill. was discovered. The box boasted, "Put It Over for 5 Cents," "Makes A Hit With Every One" and "40 Bars." Offered is an equally rare Yellow & Blue, 8" x 5" paper wrapper with the same type of Baseball Graphics. This is the first wrapper of this variety we have ever seen. The concept of saving the wrapper was hardly popular in the 1920's. One can only speculate how few have survived making this singular fragile relic possibly unique. The paper is obviously wrinkled (but supple) and aside from some products stains and light rips into the top edge has no major condition problems like extended tears, holes or repairs to detract from its display qualities.Auction Info
