    Description

1932 - 1933 Orbit Gum Company Retail Store Signs Collection (5 Items) For PR3, R305 and R308 Promotions! This presentation was part of a find in 2010 from the archive files of the Wrigley Gum Company. The collection covered many Wrigley products, most of which were not associated with cards, except for a small percentage promoting Tattoo Orbit Gum which was produced by Wrigley. The sets represented are among the more obscure issues of the early 1930's including R305 Tattoo Orbit baseball cards, PR3 baseball pins and the rare self-developing R308 Baseball and Movie Star "Surprise Photographs" set. Any type of hobby related signage from the 1930's is extremely difficult to find.

If lucky, a sign will have a level of damage one would politely describe as "acceptable" and be happy with that. There is no such compromising here. The collection includes: 1933 PR3 Tattoo Chewing Gum Sign - "Ball Player Buttons" Primary colors on thin paper with adhesion for window display. 14-1/4" x 8-1/2" (Mint, folded); 1933 PR3 Tattoo Chewing Gum Sign - "Ball Player Button" Full color on thin card stock. 9" x 7-3/4" (Mint); 1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit Sign - "Pictures of Big League Ball Players" with pictures of seven cards and a Tattoo Chewing Gum pack. Primary colors on thin paper with adhesion for window display. 14-1/4" x 8-1/2" (Mint, folded); 1933 R305 Tattoo Chewing Gum - "Pictures of Big League Ball Players" with pitcher and batter graphics. Thin card stock. 11-3/8" x 7-1/2" (Mint); 1933 R308-1 Tattoo Chewing Gum Sign - "Surprise Photograph" Four-colors on this card stock with step by step graphics for developing the cards. 8-3/4" x 6" (Mint). These signs are nothing short of breathtaking. Colors are so bright and vivid they look as though they just rolled off the presses. The easiest part of a presentation like this is the condition report. Each is summed up perfectly as "Mint."

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
