    Description

1899 - 1900 M101-1 Sporting News Supplements Collection (10). The two M101-1 lots in this auction were collected and saved by an ancestor of our consignor. They are being made available at auction for the first time. This scarce supplement series appeared during the critical turn of the century era. The 8-3/4" x 11" fragile paper thin premiums were inserted into issues of "The Sporting News" and between circulation method and media, wrinkle/crease free examples all but impossible to find. Truth is, M101-1s are difficult to find in any condition. This group includes: Breitenstein/Sept. 8, 1900, Corcoran/May 26, 1900, Dunn/April 21.1900, Freeman/June 2, 1900, B. Jones/Sept. 29, 1900, Leever/July 28, 1900, E. Lewis/Sept. 1, 1900, Phillippe/June 16, 1900, Ritchey/October 13, 1900, Scott/August 25, 1900. Technical grades are PR to FR with nicer visual quality.
