Extremely Rare Key City Gas Co. Premium of 1879 Dubuque Rabbits With Comiskey and Radbourn Plus Very Rare Game Ticket! Presented is an extremely rare Key City Gas Co. premium featuring a composite of the 1879 North West League champion Dubuque Rabbits! The team was organized by Ted Sullivan who would become the first manager of the St. Louis Browns in 1882. The 1879 Championship team had to beat Cap Anson's Chicago squad thanks in part to the talents of future HoF Charles Comiskey (his second year with Dubuque) and Charles "Old Hoss" Radbourne, a future 300-game winner who is appearing as a rookie. This relic measures 8-1/4" x 11-1/2" and is on thin card stock. The ten identified players are Loftus, Charles Radbourn, Charles Comiskey, Lapham, Sullivan, Reis, Alvceretta, W. Gleason, J. Gleason and Taylor. Each player is depicted knee-high in the classic bib-front style jerseys so popular during the 1870's. While some debate as to exactly when this piece was made, it stands to reason a Champion quality team would likely be the inspiration for Iowa businesses to use for promotion. There is staining, tack holes, a 1-1/2" tear coming up from the bottom, corner rounding and creasing throughout but how many of these could possibly still exist. Also included is an extremely rare 1879 Dubuque Base Ball Club Grand Stand full ticket that has been encapsulated PSA Authentic. Amazingly, in pencil on the back of the ticket reads, "Compt Reis" and could very well have been used by a relative of Larry Reis. An incredibly rare pair of collectibles featuring two key 19th Century players.
