    Description

Circa 1909 Ty Cobb (as E95) Advertising Cut-Out. Painfully missed by collectors of vintage cards are the larger promotional items or display pieces used to promote the unseen cards inserted in with tobacco or candy products. This hand cut, 1-7/16" x 2-5/8" depiction of Ty Cobb, the games greatest hitter, matches his portrait from the E95 Philadelphia Caramel card from 1909. For whatever reason, the name and team have been moved to the area surrounding the intense-eyed portrait of the "Georgia Peach. One can only imagine the majestic quality of a large counter card or selling sheet which celebrated this colorful 25 card series. The segments of copy on the reverse refer to "Paste Drops," ...Jelly..." and chocolate products of some type. Until the full piece is discovered, this lone remnant will remain as our inspiration to keep searching those dusty attics and flea markets looking for long forgotten treasures.

    Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
