    Description

1991 Topps Desert Shield Baseball High-Grade Complete Set (792).  Part of Topps' 40th Anniversary celebration in 1991 are these very special cards that were circulated for our brave sons and daughters in the United States military. The operation was dubbed "Desert Shield" which is what these limited edition cards are referred to. The cards parallel to the 1991 standard issue but display a special gold-foil "Desert Shield" emblem identifying them as one of a reported production of less than 7,000 of each card. The cards circulated in single card packs, an offer to buy a complete set was never presented by Topps. This means 792-card complete sets were very difficult to assemble and that remains true on the 29th Anniversary of this most patriotic issue. A total of 53 cards have been graded by PSA. Includes: Graded - PSA GEM MINT 10: 6 cards, #'s 46, 108, 470, 660, 697, 771; PSA MINT 9: 36 cards, #'s 1 Ryan, 2 Brett RB, 6 Ryan RB, 60, 66, 68 Sheffield, 79 Thomas, 107, 129, 150 Ripken, 151, 175, 183, 250 Eckersley, 253, 258, 300 Puckett, 374, 450 Boggs, 480, 486, 496, 500 Clark, 507, 515, 530 Clemens, 552, 575 Yount, 596, 600 Jackson, 601, 654, 677, 709, 740 Sandberg, 790 Griffey; PSA NM-MT+ 8.5: 3 cards, #'s 168, 230, 735; PSA NM-MT 8: 8 cards, #'s 39, 170 Fisk, 254, 333 Jones, 391 Henderson AS, 401 Bonds. Signature Internet Extended Bid: These Auctions are presented via catalog and online. Bidding is taken through our website or via phone. There are two phases of bidding during this type of auction: 1) Normal bidding: Bids are taken up until 10 PM CT the night the auction closes. 2) 30 Minute Ending: On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding). If you are the only bidder at 10 PM, you will automatically win the lot at 10:30. Important: After normal bidding ends, you must be signed-on to the Heritage site to see the bidding option on lots where you qualify for extended bidding.
