    Description

1981 Topps Baseball Traded Unopened Case With 100 Sets! 1981 was an historic year for the hobby. The iron-clad hold by Topps had been loosened bringing Fleer and Donruss into the market with major releases. We also were challenged to define the rookie card. It all seemed so simple in the past but in 1981 Topps brought back the Traded set, a concept not used since 1976. This "traded" set was different. These cards were numbered where the standard set ended, they featured new players (rookies) and they weren't sold in packs, one had to but the set in its own little box. The rookie card of Tim Raines was card #479 but now he has his own card (#816). Two rookies? The set also features the first cards of Danny Ainge and Fernando Valenzuela but they aren't in the standard set so were these really rookie cards? The debate raged on and it seems both sides just agreed to disagree and keep collecting. Other HoFers include Bert Blyleven, Rollie Fingers, Carlton Fisk, Joe Morgan, Bruce Sutter and Dave Winfield. Offered is an unopened factory sealed case with 100 compete sets of 132-cards each. The outer box has some wear, no damage and we assume the contents of undamaged. NOTE: This case is heavy and will require some extra shipping charges.
