    Description

1971 Topps Thurman Munson #5 SGC 96 Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher! NOTE: The scratch that appears just below the "t" in "thurman" is in the plastic and does not affect the card.

This card is one of a pair at the Mint 9 level with not a single example grading higher from a total population of 224! The 1971 Topps series marked the first full card Munson appeared on and the unforgiving black borders make this one of those second year cards that is as highly sought after, maybe even more so, than the players rookie card. The amazing black color surrounds a tremendous in action shot of Munson doing what he did best--tagging out a potential run scorer. A positively beautiful copy, the extreme quality may make this a card that one may not ever have the opportunity to upgrade. Once you have this card in hand, who would want to?
