    Description

1963 Topps Pete Rose - 1963 Rookie Stars #537 PSA NM-MT 8. Though the disembodied head design may not win any awards from the judging panel, the magnificent condition of the offered specimen most assuredly will. The full-bleed blue header is merciless when it comes to wear, and a stiff breeze can knock a Rose rookie off the mark in a heartbeat. This NM-MT+ example is absent the typical white spots at the edges and corners, and provides marvelous centering and registration besides. When paired with the tremendous historical relevance attached to a card that heralded the arrival of the eventual Hit King, the appeal is as clear as can be.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8. Pair this spectacular state of preservation with the elite importance of the noggin at lower left, and it's clear why this is one of the most coveted slabs of cardboard of the decade. While ownership of baseball's most important offensive record is enough to ensure supreme relevance, the investment-minded collector could be comfortable with two predictions. First, Rose will eventually be forgiven and granted entry to Cooperstown. And, second, that event will propel a sharp incline for in the market for his rarer and more important commemoratives.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
