    Description

1963 Topps Five-Cent Wax Box With 24 Packs. We owe a debt of gratitude to neighbors to the north for this presentation. It is a first for Heritage that we offer a 1963 Topps Wax box with a gallery of 24 GAI-graded 5-Cent wax packs! Yes, these rarely seen unopened gems were intended for the Canadian marketplace. The cards inside are as all-American as baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet! It would still be two more seasons before the O-Pee-Chee brand would use Topps productions for their inspiration but cards would be specific to Canada. The 36-count counter display box is designed with traditional baseball graphics, a portrait of Stan "The Man" Musial on the back panel with the ringing endorsement, "TOPPS BASEBALL IS THE FINEST SERIES EVER." There is some toning, a few creases, one lone tear in the top panel, corners are a little worn and there is a strategically placed "1963" in black marker. For a 50-year old box it is still structurally sound and presents close to excellent. Each pack contains multiple cards from the 2nd and 3rd Series of the 1963 edition. That would mean it is entirely possible to pull out a Mint or Gem MT Carl Yastrzemski, Roger Maris, Bob Uecker, Pride of N. L. - Mays/Musial, Gaylord Perry rookie, Tony Oliva rookie, Richie Ashburn, Luis Aparicio, Power Plus - Aaron/Banks, Bombers' Best, Stan Musial, Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle. The 24 remaining packs have been graded by GAI and have more than passed the test of time. The packs are graded as follows: GAI Mint 9: 3 packs; GAI NM-MT+ 8.5: 8 packs; GAI NM-MT 8: 4 packs; GAI NM+ 7.5: 9 packs. Full or partial wax boxes form the '60's of any sports is a wonderment that brings us back to a much younger and innocent age. As impressive as this is, can you resist the temptation to open them and see who rests inside? Well, maybe just one....
