1960 Fleer #80 Joe Tinker/Pepper Martin Back SGC-Authentic Rarity. The 1960 Fleer "Baseball Greats" series ends with card #79. Why this odd quantity remained a mystery for decades. Today, we know an 80th card was made (at least the back was) to be included with the set. That 80th subject was Pepper Martin. For whatever reason (a legality issue?) the front of the Martin card was never produced and remains unknown. To fill the production sheet, we know Fleer did at least two double printed subjects, hall of famers Lefty Grove and Joe Tinker. To our understanding, no example of either ever made it's way into a publicly circulated pack of cards. This nicely hand cut #80 rarity features Joe Tinker/Front and a Pepper Martin/Reverse (SGC Authentic) and is one of the great rarities of the modern era. Presenting near the EX level, the full size card has light corner wear and one visible corner crease. Condition aside, this is a fully documented treasure. For many, obtaining card #80 would be extremely difficult, but for some lucky collector, it will make his 1960 Fleer set complete.
