    Description

1957 Topps Ted Williams #1 SGC 96 Mint 9 - None Higher. In baseball, you lead off with your best hitter! That must have been the sentiment at Topps as well because for the second time in four years collectors found Red Sox hero Ted Williams at the front of the gallery on the issue's #1 card. He would be honored a third time with the #1 slot in 1958 making that the first and last time the same man would be card #1. Williams' talents in the batters' box and as an American hero are familiar features to the many hobbyists who have also cherished the '57 Topps set's photographic portraits for more than a half-century. More than 600 examples have been validated by SGC. A mere handful have attained the SGC 96 Mint 9 label with none higher. Lethally pointed corners, full measure of original surface gloss, incredibly deep portrait due to precise print registration, etc., etc. Suitable to grace one of the hobby's finest '57 Topps assemblies!
