    Description

1955 Topps Sandy Koufax #123 PSA NM-MT 8. The beloved Brooklyn Dodgers finally claimed a long-awaited World Championship the same year a young and deceptively innocent-looking pitcher - Sandy Koufax - made his debut. The odds against Koufax someday becoming the sport's first three-time Cy Young Award winner, or that he would figure in three victorious World Series match-ups were about as slim as the chances of, say, coming across a Sandy Koufax rookie that is close to Mint condition. His status on the field matches his hobby status, as the debut-year collectible of Koufax has never relinquished its ranking as one of the most visually captivating gum cards ever made.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8, it is one of the top 4.8% finest examples PSA has graded from over 5,400 submissions. The card is a wonderful copy with a couple slightly "touched" corners and two "minty" corners. Colors are phenomenal and there is none of that usual black ink transfer that seems to be attracted to the bright yellow backdrop. The reverse is as high quality as is the front of the card.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
