1953 Topps Jackie Robinson #1 PSA NM 7. The first man to cross Major League Baseball's color line was selected as the first entry in Topps' second great baseball issue, a high honor but one which, like his 1947 Rookie of the Year season, was not one lacking inherent danger. As collectors are well aware, first and last cards in the set are commonly more difficult to find in high grades due to the greater likelihood of absorbing wear as the outermost card in a numerically-filed set.

But the pioneering Hall of Famer looks virtually as good as new here, with just the slightest corner wear to account for points lost in the PSA assessment. Colors are bold and marvelously registered, and you'll rarely find a specimen from this issue with superior centering. With that grading service's population having recently surpassed 3,000 submissions of this card, fewer than eighty unqualified examples have earned a higher rating.
