Description

1953 Hunter Wieners St. Louis Cardinals Miller/Musial Uncut Panel SGC 84 NM 7. With the success of pairing up baseball cards and bubble gum by Topps starting in 1951 the mid-50's saw numerous brands of hot dogs or wieners to offer baseball cars with their meaty offerings. A virtual flood of companies selling meat products emerged catering to local markets. From 1953 to '55 Stahl-Meyer had the New York market covered. Morrell Meats would have the now west coast Dodgers. Wilson Franks had a one-year promotion that went National. Glendale Hot Dogs showcased the Detroit Tigers in 1953. In 1955, Kahn's Wieners issued their first cards and would continue to do so until 1969. The Washington DC area saw baseball players on packages of Briggs Meats. St. Louis Cardinal fans got two hometown heroes with their Hunter's Wieners. Hungry baseball fans in the east and mid-west had the most options but these regional issues are today without a doubt among the rarest regional issues of the 1950's or most other eras.

Offered is an uncut 2-card panel featuring Stuart Miller and Stan "The Man" Musial! Graded SGC 84 NM 7. There really is no reason for this uncut panel to exist this immaculate condition. There are no creases or meat stains, both detriments to be expected as the trip from printer, to meat processor, to store shelves, to mom's kitchen is a perilous journey. The cutting was precise and with an eye for centering. The lack of handling and exposure has left colors deeply saturated and surfaces without scratches or scuffing. This is one of only five uncut panels found on the SGC census. The PSA census confirms only eleven more panels, placing the total pop of Musial/Miller panels at two! A condition rarity and incredible addition for the most passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan!
