    Description

1953 Bowman Color Bob Feller #114 SGC 96 Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher! Real photographic images aren't the only factor the 1953 Bowman series capitalized on. Their generous dimensions were at the time the largest cards Bowman produced. Pleasing the public was their top motivation for this would have been nice but competing with that gum company from Brooklyn was reason number one. Regardless, what the hobby was given was one of the most amazing releases of the 1950's or nay other era. All cards at the highest grade level grab your attention. Issued well before the advent of cards' recognition as keepsakes, the thought of keeping them best maintained in uncirculated condition was a distant dream. When the all the stars align - corners razor sharp - centering perfect - surfaces glossy and clean - 1953 Bowman Color cards don't just grab your attention, they hold on until your eyes go dry from bulging and jaws are sore from dropping. This is why we collect and it is no doubt why a "Mint" gem is so highly treasured. The card we offer is a captivating example of card #114 of Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller. This virtually untouched wonder has been graded SGC 96 Mint 9.

This Feller card, specifically, has garnered the ultimate evaluation for its issue, sharing that pinnacle position with just one counterpart. Barely handled and seemingly flawless in every way, even print registration which can destroy fine details is precise leaving Feller's image impeccable and probably un-improvable. Among more than 7,500 cards from the entire Bowman Color issue that reside in SGC holders, just 83 pieces - that is just one percent of the release's total census -- have successfully aspired to the 96 Mint 9 level, and none has achieved Gem MT distinction. An extraordinary Hall of Fame representative from a true hobby classic.
