    Description

1952 Topps Ed Mathews #407 PSA NM 7. This single piece seems to hit all the marks that define a baseball card "classic." It is the rookie card of a Hall of Famer and 500 Home Run Club member ranking him among the greatest sluggers of the game. The number "407" identifies the final entry from the '52 Topps High Number run characterized by a smaller print run and famous stories abut why today there are relatively few surviving examples. It's been documented that numerous cases of '52 Topps high numbers were dumped into the ocean as excess, unusable product. All now classic cards not ripped from their packaging to be greeted by schoolyard chatter but watery destruction. Finally, it is Ed Mathews' debut card collectible is especially condition-sensitive by virtue of its size and, if that wasn't liability enough, it's the last card in a numerical arrangement. All of this constitutes a recipe for desirability, indeed, and it's also a formula for an extremely important collectible that just happens to be extraordinarily hard to obtain in the higher-grade levels!

Graded PSA NM 7. This stunner exhibits astonishingly bright portrait quality with shimmering surface gloss. The frosty white and noticeably even frame is the final and satisfying entree of this coveted relic. A surprisingly well-preserved specimen giving one collector "pack fresh" bragging rights to close his/her set.
