1948 Topps "Magic Photos" Complete Set (252) Plus Albums - With #3 PSA Registry Baseball Players - Exceptional Overall Photo Quality. The debut series by Topps appeared in 1948 in the form of a creative endeavor of self-developing cards with subjects from 19 different themes that include the first baseball cards Topps would produce. Magic Photos, as they were called, offered over 250 subjects and were intended to be placed in specially designed albums, both are included here. Offered is a 252-card complete set including the #3 PSA Set Registry Baseball "K" Section (4.0 GPA) with two "Pop 1-of-1 with none higher" status. There is also an uncatalogued variation to #29J Cameron. A finer complete set would be extremely difficult to assemble. Not only is the set 70% EX to NM but the overall image quality is nothing short of startling! Not a single unidentifiable entry! Very strong images exist throughout with football, track & field, aviation and military leaders particularly strong. This is of particular importance for a set where images by design were developed by young consumers. One album did have cards inside at one time (presents EX), the other is completely unused and aside from a couple light cover wrinkles is close to MINT. A total of 29 cards have been graded by PSA. Highlights include: Graded - PSA NM 7: 6 cards, #'s 8F Fontaine, 1M, 4K, 9K Mack, 17K Sisler and 18K Tinker/Evers (MC); PSA EX-MT 6: 9 cards, #'s 22A Ortiz, 14D, 16D, 23D, 9F, 1K, 2K, 12K Alexander and 19K; PSA EX+ 5.5: 1 card, #16K Young; PSA EX 5: 7 cards, #'s 1A Burns, 5F, 3K, 5K, 6K Ruth, 13K Cobb and 14K Gehrig; PSA VG-EX 4: 5 cards, #'s 2F Stanwyck, 8K Hornsby, 10K Mathewson, 11K Wagner and 15K Johnson; PSA Authentic: 1 card, #7K Speaker. Cards grade 10% NM, 60% EX to EX/MT, 25% VG to VG/EX, 5% lesser.
