1939-1963 Hall of Fame Plaque Postcards Collection (67). The first Hall of Fame postcards were issued in two types between 1939-1943. They share an identical format and are differentiated by the typography on back, one set having been issued prior to the Hall of Fame's opening in June, 1939, and a later version issued after that opening. Thirty-four of the thirty-seven issued are present with the following breakdown: Type 1 - G.C. Alexander, Cap Anson, Morgan Bulkeley, Alexander Cartwright, Henry Chadwick, Eddie Collins, Charles Comiskey, Candy Cummings, Buck Ewing, Ban Johnson, Walter Johnson, Willie Keeler, Connie Mack, Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, Charles Radbourne, George Sisler, Al Spalding, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner, George Wright; Type 2 - Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Napoleon Lajoie, Babe Ruth, Cy Young and 8 Hall of Fame Museum related postcards. From 1944-1952 Albertype was the official producer of the Baseball Hall of Fame's postcards. Twenty-seven of these Type 1 and Type 2 postcards are present including Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner. Finally, there are six of the Artvue Hall of Fame postcards produced between 1953-1963 which include Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, Carl Hubbell and Mel Ott. Postcards rate a consistent EX/MT or better with very few exceptions.
