1938 Goudey Bob Feller #288 SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 - The Finest Example Graded by Both SGC and PSA! Feller credited his arm strength to hard work on the Van Meter, Iowa farm where he grew up. His debut in the Majors as a fire-throwing seventeen-year old phenom was with the 1936 Cleveland Indians. So Bob Feller was not yet twenty at the time Goudey issued this card of the future Hall of Famer for what would be a breakout 1938 season. Feller nearly doubled his innings pitched for 1938, winning 17 games against 11 losses struck out 7.779 batters per game to set an American League record with 240 strikeouts. In 1939, the historic season that saw the debut of Ted Williams, the farewell of Lou Gehrig and the opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Rapid Robert set the American League strikeout mark again, adding to it a League-best twenty-four victories and equal number of complete games. Today, managers hope starters get them into the 6th inning. Upon retirement, Feller pitched 279 complete games, 44 shutouts, 3 no-hitters and a dozen one-hitters.

Graded SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5. View the census report of the third party grading service of your choice and you won't find a higher graded example of this card! This card is the one and only card to earn a 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 rating from SGC with none rating any higher. PSA not only lacks a higher graded submission but offers no equal as well. All four corner tips come to 90-degree angles. Centering, if it isn't precise it is a hairline away from perfection. Colors are rich and saturated, surfaces reveal a complete lack of any speck of stray ink, blemish, scuff, stain or toning so common with this issue. It is the rarest of combinations a hobbyist can dream of. It is the finest example of the final card in the set.
