1936 Goudey Baseball PSA Graded Complete Set (25) - #4 on the PSA Set Registry. Goudey Gum produced a set of 240 baseball cards in 1933 that turned out be an important and historic effort that is noted for its art work and vast selection of athlete who would one day be members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The effects of the great depression certainly must have taken a toll as three seasons later was limited to 25 subjects although in 1935 they upped the quantity of players to four per card. Their 1936 effort saw a transition to Black & White portraits with player names in flowing script acting as the only to an otherwise clutter-free design. To add some value the backs could now be used as part of a baseball table top card game. What didn't change was the star studded player selection. Among the roster are eight men who were at the time future Hall of Famers including Kiki Cuyler, Lefty Gomez, Rick Ferrell, Paul Waner, Bucky Harris and Chuck Klein plus slugger Hank Greenberg and Mickey Cochrane. This would prove to be one of the last cards of the great backstop issued during his career. In addition to those eight are another eleven All-Stars in Berger, Camilli, Crosetti, Derringer, Dykes, Hemsley, Higgins, Hildebrand, Martin, Newsom and Vosmik. Top HoFers Green berg and Cochrane are very nicely represented via strong NM-MT examples that equal the highest grade available on any grading census report. This set is also among the most obscure Goudey baseball promotions with a total population just over 1,425 submissions. By comparison, there are over 19,000 graded cards from the 1934 set with submissions for the landmark 1933 issue approaching 70,000!

With a very impressive Grade Point Average of 7.63, this set is #4 on the All-Time Finest List on the PSA Set Registry. Retired sets aside, this set is #3 and rests below the #2 position by a mere .06 percent (7.69 vs 7.63). Includes: PSA NM-MT 8: 13 cards, Bill Brubaker, Dolph Camilli (Pop Two, None Higher!), Clydell Castleman (Pop Two, None Higher!), Mickey Cochrane (Pop Three, None Higher!), Frank Crosetti, Rick Ferrell (None Higher), Lefty Gomez (Pop Seven, None Higher!), Hank Greenberg (Pop Three, None Higher!), Rolly Hemsley, Frank Higgins (None Higher!), Buck Newsom (None Higher!), Paul Waner, Bill Werber (Pop Three, None Higher!); PSA NM+ 7.5: 1 card, Joe Vosmik; PSA NM 7: 10 cards, Walter Berger, Henry Bonura, Joe Coscarart, Kiki Cuyler, Paul Derringer, Jimmy Dykes, Bucky Harris, Oral Hildebrand, Chuck Klein, Pepper Martin; PSA EX-MT+ 6.5: 1 card, Stan Bordagaray.
