    Description

The top of both the SGC and PSA population, with no equals!

1933 Uncle Jacks Candy "Babe" Ruth SGC 82 EX-MT+ 6.5.
This ultra-rare thirty-card issue was distributed only in the candy company's New England home territory, and in supplies so meager that today just over 200 cards from the entirety of the set appear within the joint population reports of SGC and PSA. The creators of the issue chose its roster well, as the set is packed with Hall of Fame talent including Frisch, Hornsby, Foxx, Grove and Lazzeri, but of course the iconic Bambino is considered the key entry.

Only a half dozen Ruths have been submitted for assessment by the good folks at SGC, and the presented example stands alone atop that tiny population. Another eight Ruth representations appear in the PSA rankings, with none climbing higher than Good 2, so there is no hyperbole in declaring this offering the finest that exists in the hobby.

The simple, blank-backed design features a monochromatic photographic image on the obverse, enhanced only by identifying text which reads, "'Babe' Ruth, 'King of Swat.'" Print quality is strong for the issue, and corners are remarkably sharp. A slight eastward shift is the only apparent deviation from perfection, and this is an issue where centering issues prevail and must be excused. A spectacular one-of-one rarity for the advanced Ruth collector.
