1933 Sport Kings Eddie Shore #19 PSA Mint 9 - Pop Four, None Higher. Many Americans had never seen hockey played at any level, making the NHL's international aspirations a particularly risky endeavor. "In order to succeed," said Frank Boucher, a star in his own right with the New York Rangers, "the league needed a superstar of extraordinary dimensions." They found one in Eddie Shore, arguably the most significant figure in hockey history for popularizing the sport to an American audience. While his stick-handling and skating talent alone ranked with the top Canadian stars, Shore became a fan favorite for his peerless ability to deliver punishment, and to take it. In 1925, there was an instance when his ear was nearly detached from his head... and this happened during practice. Shore refused pain killers and held a mirror so he could watch the doctor sew it back in place. In December 1933, Shore delivered one of the most notorious checks in the history of the sport, nearly killing fellow Hall of Famer Ace Bailey and spawning what was effectively the first NHL All-Star Game as a benefit for the wounded Maple Leaf's recovery.

Graded PSA Mint 9. Pop four when graded MINT with none higher. The background is a soothing blue and is without blemish or imperfection. Under magnification there is barely a trace of wear seen at just one corner tip. Centering is close to perfection. A pair of problem-free surfaces and a glowing white frame complete the condition report that is easily summed up as "Mint." This stellar card will be sought after by many.
