    Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 PSA NM 7. Babe Ruth's status in baseball is just part of his importance. His celebrity was matched by few others at the time. Japanese troops, yelled, Death to babe Ruth!" to demoralize troops and this was years after he retired. Card #181 pictures the Babe holding his trusty lumber, gazing upward from within a highly detailed portrait. This could easily be a brief, quiet moment for Ruth, sitting on clubhouse steps, watching the current Yankee batter, torn between placing the ball into the left, center or right field stands. The lack of surrounding elements only adds to the aura that is the "Babe." The clean, white borders surround an image placed just to the right of center with sharp print registration. There is minor amounts of wear to corner tips and horizontal centering gently rests to the right. Vertical centering is perfect. The reverse offers a nicely struck print in that unmistakable Goudey green ink combined with the commonly seen print ghosting (overkill from the sheet placed under this one). Graded PSA NM 7. For the advanced Ruth collector or the condition conscious baseball card fan with the desire to own a piece of history.
