Description

    Only two superior!

    1932 U.S. Caramel Babe Ruth #32 PSA NM-MT 8.
With so many potential pitfalls, with danger swirling all about a card such as this, the existence of one so fine challenges the very laws of probability. Caramel cards themselves are often problematic, falling victim to staining by the product with which they were packaged. Next, we must consider that a Ruth card, dating from the height of his "Called Shot" fame, would have been quite well-loved at the time, and hence bearing the signs of handling by young hands that couldn't possibly have understood the card's destiny of great monetary value. Thirdly, the Babe found himself the final card in this issue of thirty-two, leaving him in real danger of the excess wear generally plaguing the first and last cards in a set. And, finally, lest we forget, the card is over eight and a half decades old!

Only two examples have ever been deemed superior to the example presented here, and it's tough to imagine how even that many topped it. Registration is as sharp as a Ruth line drive, and centering is in perfect balance. Add sharp corners and clean surfaces to the mix, and you're left with one of the prettiest cards to emerge from the Great Depression.
