    Description

1930 Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Boston Post Old Timers Game Baseball. On September 8, 1930 more than fifty former Major League players (featuring future Hall of Famers from the 1880's to the 1920's) assembled at Braves Field to take part in one of the earliest Old Timers Games on record. Pitting a squad of Boston Red Sox old-timers versus a contingency of old-timers from other franchises, the contest was sponsored by the Boston Post, with proceeds given to the Children's Hospital of Boston and the Professional Baseball Players of America Charity Fund.

Unlike modern Old-Timers Games, which proceed a "regular" game, this contest was able to stand on its own due to the caliber of its stars, and over 20,000 spectators were in attendance for the spectacle. It was the first national radio broadcast from Boston and the official scorers and telegraph operator form thirty years prior were working the game. Horace Partridge was also on hand as some uniforms were "a little tight" on the legends.

The ONL (Heydler) baseball on offer here is signed by thirty-two from that day, with Hall of Famers Jimmy Collins, Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Fred Clarke, Honus Wagner, Eddie Collins, Ed A. Walsh, Chief Bender, Roger Bresnahan, Ed Roush, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper and Hugh Duffy. Others include Joe Wood, Hobe Ferris, Larry Doyle, Jack Barry, Stuffy McGinnis, Nick Altrock, Bob Carrigan, Dick Rudolph, Bill Bradley, Kitty Bransfield, Dave Shean, Bill Hoblitzell, Larry Gardner and Tom "Bunny" Madden.

The ball was shellacked and has since browned, with some cracks in the shellac. However, these points are excusable considering the gravity of the signatures present, most of which are bold and average 8/10. The ball once hung in an office as part of a display with other baseballs and is still fitted with the metal staple and string which was originally affixed to secure it to the display. An incredible baseball relic. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
