1923 WG7 Walter Mails Game Complete Set (57) - #1 on the SGC Set Registry! This set ranks as the #1 set on the SGC Set Registry with a GPA of 88.0 This unique series of both major and minor league players has the distinction of being produced by a major league player himself--Walter Mails. For 11 seasons (1915-26) Mails was a pitcher for numerous clubs, the highlight of his career being a win in the 1920 World Series. It was his days with Oakland of the PCL in '23 that afforded him the time to produce this 56-card set for a table-top Baseball game much like other games seen since the 19th century. This surprisingly well-preserved presentation is 100% NM or better (unless you count a directions card) and 79% NM/MT to MINT with an average grade equaling the NM-MT level! That's not a common statement we can make. It's a great set to add to your collection and one with a very unique origin. Includes - SGC 96 MINT 9: 6 cards, Maranville, Miller, Mostil, Shupes, Sewell and Uhle; SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5: 5 cards, Bassler, Bentley, Chavezo, Fonseca and Kenworthy; SGC 88 NM/MT 8: 34 cards, Bagby, Benton, Bush, Critz, Daubert, Dell, Dugan, Duncan, French, Gharrity, Groves, Hargrave, Jacobs, Walter Johnson, Krause, Mails, Meusel, Moran, Murphy, O'Neil, Oeschger, Peckinpaugh, Pinelli, Pipp, Ponder, Rice, Rommel, Schmidt, Shea, Siglin, Sisler, Skiff, Sutherland and Tierney; SGC 86 NM+ 7.5: 4 cards, Groh, McManus, Morton, Smith; SGC 84 NM 7: 7 cards, Arlett, Bancroft, Burns, Ehmke, Kremer, McInnis and O'Connell; SGC 60 EX 5: 1 card, Directions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
