1920 Holsum Bread Joe Jackson SGC 30 Good 2 - Only Two SGC Graded Examples! Despite playing for 13 years prior to his banishment, Joe Jackson has a following matched by few others. His lack of HoF status has meant absolutely nothing the the hoard of fans who feel his punishment did not represent true justice. He was not yet a regular player in 1910 and was, therefore, not included in the tobacco issues of that time. Jackson was banned from baseball following the 1920 season and did not make it into the popular American Caramel issue but did make it into the more obscure issue of the late-1910's and early 1920's. Offered is one such treasure, his extremely rare Holsum Bread card from 1921. We have the Weil Baking Company based in New Orleans to thank for this card which we can safely assume say extremely limited regional distribution. Although the set is dated to 1921 on paper, discoveries have shown the Holsum Bread cards were circulated in 1920 which would explain how a player banned in 1920 would still appear in a promotion from 1921. This portrait of quite possibly the greatest and most natural hitter to ever play in our National Pastime is probably the one image that challenges his Cracker Jack portrait as most popular. That is a bonus considering this is one of the rarest Jackson card collectibles, a card that was unknown for over eight decades.

Graded SGC 30 Good 2. The SGC census reveals to us this extremely rare entry shows just one additional review. The right of the reverse show brief segments of surface scuffing and/or loss at the top-most layer. The card originally had in faint pencil "Put Out of Baseball" at the top left corner. That has been removed leaving very faint surface impressions of the original letters. Each of the four corners shows gentle and consistent rounding that delivers a truly nostalgic flavor. His pose, one used on multiple cards of the era, features the beloved batsmen in his black-best uniform and the instrument that help make him past famous into the mythical status few achieve. This is one of the rarest Joe Jackson cards in the hobby.
