    Description

1916 M101-4 Sporting News Joe Jackson #87 PSA NM 7. Baseball legend "Shoeless" Joe Jackson is featured within a limited number of card promotions which appeared during his career. His first full season was 1911, missing out on most sets issued during the "Golden Age" of tobacco and candy issues of that time. His banishment following the 1920 season kept him being included in the popular American Caramel and related issues of the early-1920's. Considering he was one of baseball's best batsmen, there are not many cards available that feature Jackson. The Sporting News and associated M101-4 and M101-5 sets are a great source for Jackson fans and they are among the most popular of all his cards. The photographic, full figure batting pose seems to be the ideal portrait for the man who is considered one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. Offered is a "The Sporting News" cards from the M101-4 series.

Graded PSA NM 7. This is one of six graded NM with two rated higher. PSA has graded a grand total of twenty-two cards with a confirmed TSN brand back. The portrait is a classic Charles Conlon batting shot, a real-world version of the same pose that was used for his iconic Cracker Jack card. Centering is close to precise. Surfaces are clean with minimal corner wear. We dare say a couple are even at the "mint-ish" level. A strong, high-end example of a card card that is a must-have in any condition.
