    Description

1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb #30 PSA EX-MT 6. Graded PSA EX-MT 6, one of two for the grade with a handful higher. Although there was nothing that the word "sweet" would accurately describe the Georgia Peach, he does rank as the first or second most desirable entry from the hobby's most popular candy issue. Distributed inside boxes of Cracker Jacks or via mail-in offer, this card appeared during what was another batting crown season for Cobb. What a thrill it must have been for a young child or an adult with a sweet tooth to pull out this card during a season that saw Cobb steal 96 bases, manage 208 hits and bat .369! The bold coloring and artful portraiture that characterize the set are entirely evident and seem tailor-made to honor baseball's finest. The surfaces present far better than one would expect for a 98-year old relic. The most critical we can be is to point out one stray mark of soiling or ink ghosting on the front that is quickly overshadowed by the modest corner wear to corner tips, admirable centering, and a complete lack of any candy residue. A great example of one of Cobb's best card collectibles.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
