1915 Cracker Jack Tris Speaker #65 SGC Mint+ 9.5 - Pop One, None Higher! "...the smoothness of a summer wind," is how Tris Speaker played, said iconic sports writer Grantland Rice. Speaker played from 1907-1928, and was a top defensive center fielder and a superb hitter. On defense, Speaker played the shallowest center field most people had ever seen. He did it because Speaker felt that more games were lost by giving up cheap, bloop singles than by balls flying over outfielders' heads for triples. He holds the Major League record for unassisted double plays by an outfielder with six. He would race in to catch a low liner and then nab the runner on second base before he could get back to the bag. Speaker led AL center fielders 8-times in assists, holds the MLB center field assists record (145), and only trails Willie Mays for all-time center field putouts. On offense, Speaker hit .345 for his career and holds the MLB record for doubles with 792. His nickname of "Spoke" came from teammate Bill Carrigan saying when Speaker got a hit, "Speaker spoke." He won the 1912 AL MVP and took the '16 batting title. A HOF inductee in 1937, he played in the AL for Boston, Cleveland, Washington, and Philadelphia. He helped win two World Series for Boston, and won another as a player-manager for Cleveland.

The cards were exposed to stains from the molasses-covered popcorn, but the '15 issue added a mail-in order for a complete set - free of molasses - making card like this that seemed to have traveled through time possible. Very rare in high grade. Graded SGC Mint+ 9.5. This is the one and only card graded MINT+ with none higher!
