1914 H813-2 Boston Garter Charlie Herzog SGC 20 Fair 1.5. The magnificent colors and creative design makes the Boston Garter set an attractive series few can resist. They also happen to be exceedingly rare. Charlie "Buck" Herzog was a reliable infielder who is noted for his record 12 hits during the 1912 World Series. His talent is recognized here as he appears among just 11 others, most of whom are now in Baseball's Hall of Fame. This certainly must be his rarest card collectible. The front shows two areas of surface chipping, one in the upper left and one very small spot near the middle left border. There is obvious moisture staining and slight wrinkling in corners. The reverse displays a few small spots of staining, one spot of surface loss ("S" in Speaker"), and a couple spots of paper adhered to the surface (affecting "s" in Evers).

Condition aside, this is an immensely rare opportunity for the type collector wishing to fill a hole missing from even the most advanced type-card collections or for the hobbyists filled with enough steely determination to pursue a complete set of these beautifully produced collectibles. Graded SGC 20 Fair 1.5, tied with one other at this grade from a total population of only three examples graded by both PSA and SGC services. This card will find its way into a premier collection, as it should.
