1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson #103 SGC 84 NM 7 - Pop Two, One Higher. It was 1914, the year that this gorgeous card rolled off the assembly line and into a box of Cracker Jack, that saw one the game's greatest hitters ever, have an "off" season batting .338 and 153 hits for his last full season with Cleveland before a fateful move to Charles Comiskey's Chicago squad. Very few players truly transcend the game. Immortalized here is the legend of Joe Jackson. Here he wields his trusty Black Betsy gripped tightly in his calloused farm boy hands, emblazoned against the scarlet background of this beautiful issue. We don't know what the folks at Cracker Jack had envisioned when they produced these astonishing specimens, then exposing them to a very tasty but very sticky caramel treat. With no mail-in promotion available, finding cards totally void of the sticky candy extract grading Excellent or better is a monumental task. We should also note the scarcity of the 1914 series is also the result of the '15 edition being essentially a reissue prompting youngsters to forgo the product stained cards for a fresh copy with clean and perfect surfaces. Ironically, just like this card.

Graded SGC 84 NM 7, this card is one of two to earn the "NM" rating from SGC with a single card graded higher that came from a set which never saw circulation . His trusted bat guides the eye to the "Cracker Jack Ball Players" advertising. The front is so impressive for this issue one sees no toning and some slight corer wear. Nothing has affected the bold portrait where the only aspect that doesn't resonate the utmost of quality is the mild diamond factory cut. The reverse offers the same clarity and "as issued" appeal as does the obverse. This is a strong example of one of the toughest singles in the hobby to find in high grade.
