    Description

1914 Boston Garter Charlie Herzog SGC 20 Fair 1.5. Graded 20 Fair 1.5 by SGC, tied with one other at this grade from a total population of only three examples graded by either grading service (the highest graded Herzog is a 30 Good 2). Herzog was a reliable infielder who also managed during his professional baseball career. He is noted for his record 12 hits during the 1912 World Series. Charlie "Buck" Herzog's rarest collectible must certainly be this 3-15/16" x 8-1/4" Boston Garter window display card from 1914. His talent recognized here as he appears among just 11 others, most of whom are now in Baseball's Hall of Fame. The front shows two areas of surface chipping, one visible area in the upper left region and one very small spot near the middle, left border. There is also the obvious moisture staining and slight wrinkling in corners. The reverse displays a few small spots of staining, one spot of surface loss (see "S" in Speaker"), and a couple spots of paper adhered to the surface (affecting "s" in Evers). Condition aside, this is a immensely rare opportunity for the type collector wishing to fill a entry missing from even the most advanced type-card collections or for the hobbyists filled with enough steely determination pursue a complete set of these beautifully produced collectibles.
