Description

1913 T200 Fatima Team Premium "World Champion" Philadelphia Americans. During the memorable 1913 season, the Shibe Park faithful witnessed one of the most solid squads in Major League history. According to famed baseball historian Bill James, "The 1913 incarnation of the Athletics' famous '$100,000 infield' was the best of all-time," and featured the superb play of Stuffy McInnis, Eddie Collins, Frank "Home Run Baker" and Jack Barry. Under the tutelage of the legendary manager Connie Mack, the "Philadelphia Americans" defeated the New York Giants in five games to win the 1913 World Series.

Heritage Auction Galleries is proud to present one of the rarest tobacco issues in the hobby, in exemplary condition. This stunning piece from the extremely rare 1913 T200 Fatima Team Premium issue, rates at the hobby's upper echelon, when considering desirability, significance and scarcity.

We offer here one of three pieces from the famed tobacco issue featured in our April Signature sale, we are confident that no trio will rate higher, when considering their spectacular condition and crystal clear imagery. Mounted to sturdy cardboard by its original owner, which in essence helped perfectly preserve the superior quality of the premium for nearly 100 years, this treasure has been cut down to 11.75" x 19.75"" The lightest amount of staining is present, with two noticeable scuffs on the left and right side, which we note only for the sake of full disclosure, this piece has not faded and presents its black and white contrast to photographic perfection. Photo portion remains at its original 11" x 18.75" size.

No catalog description can do this tobacco card rarity its appropriate justice, so we suggest pulling the trigger on this stunning offering. The thought of another example surfacing in the near future is merely a hobby fantasy.
