1912 Ty Cobb Postcard "World's Greatest Ballplayer..." SGC Authentic - Only Two Graded Examples! With razor spikes and iron will, Cobb earned a legacy as the game's most ferocious competitor, a reputation that stands in stark contrast to the rather relaxed pose featured upon this coveted rarity. It's arguably the most unusual, and thus intriguing, Cobb image appearing within the Standard Catalog. The horizontal portrait has a caption that reads, "TY COBB - World's Greatest Ball Player And His Favorite Bat." A deeply obscure entry, the postcard flips to show an April 27, 1912 postmark out of Detroit, Michigan and a brief message with baseball content (See web site) referring to the team's first game at Navin Field.

Currently, there are just two recorded examples on the SGC pop report. Both are encapsulated SGC Authentic. This card has some minor restoration work. The top left corner has had color added to a small area, the bottom left corner shows a crease that has been partially filled in, matching color added for an uninterrupted elevated aesthetic. The only other known example has a large portion of a corner missing.

More Information: The back message reads:

    Dear Nina:
I have just seen Ty c. the guy on this card at Navin the seasons first game. John took me on the new ball ground too, it was great, about 25,000 people there. Don't you owe me a letter, wait any way. Wila(?) likes her job. Aunt (???) in one day last week.

    Love, Iva.
