1911 M110 Sporting Life Hal Chase PSA VG 3. Hal Chase was known as "Prince Hal" for his ability to be charming but it seems he was anything but princely. He may have been charming but that doesn't mean he was sincere. Whispers of bribes, betting and throwing games are all accusations that have followed Chase for a century. Unquestionably he was one of the very first great stars of the New York Highlanders/Yankees but he joins Shoeless Joe Jackson in baseball ignominy, his legacy destroyed by gambling scandal. So despised by baseball leadership, when Chase tried to start a league in Mexico where he owned a café, American League president Ban Johnson had him deported back to the United States thanks to his relationship with the president of Mexico. Offered is a very rare M110 "Sporting Life" cabinet card of Chase, currently just one of a total of four to be reviewed by PSA. It is among the rarest Chase cards to acquire. The card presents very well thanks to a totally unmarred central portrait. Graded PSA VG 3, the card shows light edge/corner wear and a crease near the upper/left corner. This is the only example in VG with one grading higher, as mentioned there are only four total examples graded to date.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
