    Description

1910 E96 Philadelphia Caramel Napoleon Lajoie PSA EX-MT 6. Napoleon Lajoie was one of Cleveland's most beloved figures, so popular in his day that the team was nicknamed the "Naps" in his honor. The team would take on its current "Indians" designation only upon his departure in 1915. The turn-of-the-century hero was renowned for being among the finest ballplayers both on and off the field. Lajoie's talents were at the top of the sport earning him elite status with others of his day such as Young, Mathewson, Johnson, Wagner and Cobb. Although his 1933 Goudey appearance may be a more historically significant to the hobby, this card is his most popular and hotly pursued E-card collectibles, even challenging his tobacco card appearances. Just some modest corner tip wear and vertical centering resting low of center are the only condition elements to note. Graded PSA EX-MT 6, this card is one of three cards to grade EX-MT with PSA, there are none higher and with only 8 of the currently 610 (or 1.3%) total E96s in PSA holders rating higher the chances of another copy in better condition being found rests between slim and none.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
