    Description

1910 E222 A.W.H. Caramels Bill Otey SGC 10 Poor 1. The E222 edition is fascinating considering every card is unique in some manner, whether that be the style of lettering, the decorative elements and/or the ink color. It's a type-card collector's dream! "Steamboat Bill" Otey did not have an illustrious Major League career, managing to appear in three seasons spread out over five years, racking up a 1-5 lifetime record, a surprise considering he won 10+ games five times and was a 20-game winner in the minors in 1907.

His best years were for Norfolk, the team which he appears on this extremely rare E222 produced for A.W.H. Caramels "Base Ball Series" in 1910. This is a rare instance where players from the VA. State League appeared on cards. The front is printed in green with a maroon reverse. The card is a rock solid looking very-good to excellent but is graded SGC 10 Poor 1. Under extremely close examination there is very faint illegible pencil across his chest. Still a conservative grade in the eyes of many.
