1910 E125 American Caramel Honus Wagner (Batting) SGC 40 VG 3 - The Finest of Only Three Graded Examples! It is nothing short of amazing that the E125 American Caramel series remained in total obscurity until the 1960's when it became part of the hobby at large, but in very small quantities. The last half century has seen finds of baseball players, boxers and even animal subjects. They are large, designed to stand upright and most of all they are impressive. Acquiring one meant the simple purchase of "Action Pictures Caramel." Die cuts. Tabs. Folds. Flaps. Cheap, thin cardstock. Their very design meant ultimate damage. At least a roster of names was available for young sports fans to know which players could be found. Naturally, no set of collectibles featuring the line-up of the 1909 World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates would be complete without Honus Wagner. But the list makes no mention how many different poses were made. The first "Fielding" version (the same pose used for the E93 Standard Caramel series and the E98 cards) and this, encountered even less often "Batting" pose.

Graded SGC 40 VG 3. This is one of only three noted on the SGC and PSA census reports combined. Actually, all three are in SGC holders. This is the highest graded of the rare trio. The base is totally intact and has never been folded and shows a brief crease from the vertical line of the left cross down to the base. There are also a few small specs of surface loss. The delicate upper bat portion is crease free and we are just happy to see it is still in place. The tip at the brim of his cap comes to a slightly worn point. An incredible rarity in wonderful condition and the perfect companion piece to the "fielding" version found elsewhere in this auction.
