    Description

1910 D322 Tip Top Bread Honus Wagner SGC 40 VG 3. While the issue may not be familiar to the casual collector, the image most assuredly is. It's an artful remaining of Carl Horner's definitive photographic portrait, the same image utilized for the creation of the short-printed T206 tobacco card which serves as the hobby's most coveted and valuable cardboard. And Wagner, as the undisputed leading star of the Steeltown squad, would be more susceptible to wear from trading and handling under ordinary circumstances. Offered is a very nice example graded SGC 40 VG 3. Easily presenting at the "excellent" level, this card, despite the rather flimsy paper stock utilized in the set's creation that is largely to blame for the scarcity and condition issues, but we find just one light vertical crease instead of the multiple creases that plagues the surviving population. Just twenty-seven Tip Top Wagner cards have found a home in a SGC capsule, five others achieve an equal VG 3 designation. Seven have graded higher.
