    Description

1909 T204 Ramly Miller Huggins SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 - Pop One, None Higher! This is the finest example to pass through the offices of SGC and still some might say the grade is a little conservative. If it was easy to assemble a T204 Ramly set in Near Mint or better condition then this card and the others in this auction wouldn't make for such an amazing display. Before Huggins was known as "Mighty Mite" for his scrawny five-foot six inch frame, the Cincinnati 2nd Baseman became a Hall of Fame skipper who led the Yankees to their first six pennants and three World Championships as he butted heads with a boozing Bambino. His early and tragic death from blood poisoning in 1929 has made the Murderer's Row manager a scarce appearance in any card promotion. The detail on this Ramly is phenomenal. The intricate gold leaf, the high-quality black and white Carl Horner portrait and the raised relief all help make T204s one of the most spectacular of all baseball card issues. No advanced collector should be without a magnificent type in their collection and we think the finest example of a HoFer would make a great choice. There is not a hint of gold missing from anywhere on the card. Not on the tips of any corner or at the high relief areas of the embossed surfaces. There are only a handful of Ramly sets in our hobby and we doubt that even one of them grades Near Mint throughout but there is nothing wrong with advancing the few who will try to build a high-grade set one HoF step closer.
