    Population two, none higher!

1909 T204 Ramly Ed Plank PSA NM-MT 8. He learned his trade on the blood-soaked grounds of America's most hallowed battlefield, fashioning his slab of baseball immortality with a sidearmed curveball that earned him 326 Major League victories. The third winningest southpaw of all time behind Warren Spahn and Steve Carlton, "Gettysburg Eddie" is best recalled for his fourteen seasons of service to the first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty. Just eight and a half years after pitching his last game, Plank fell victim to a fatal stroke at age fifty, but would earn his immortality twenty years later with a posthumous Hall of Fame induction already long overdue in 1946.

If the image that commands the central focus of this ornate beauty strikes a familiar chord, you're likely recalling the short-printed T206 that is surpassed only by the fabled Wagner in that issue's celebrated lore. The identical Carl Horner portrait photograph was utilized for each.

But while the T206 Plank is properly esteemed and coveted for its scarcity, the total population of seventy residing in a PSA slab far exceeds the census of Ramly Planks, by more than a factor of three. Only twenty-three examples of this elite rarity have been submitted to the hobby's leading card grading service, with the offered specimen one of only two to soar to the top of that ranking. In fact, only one card from the entirety of the T204 issue has ever achieved a Mint 9 rating, with Gem Mint 10 still pitching a shutout. Only Walter Johnson is considered a more desirable resident of the set, with Plank ranking as "key card" number two. A spectacular opportunity for the advanced tobacco-era collector, and one unlikely to present itself again soon.
