1909 E92 Dockman & Sons Cy Young SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 - Pop One, One Higher. Dockman could not have picked a better player card to close out their 40-card promotion the hobby calls "E92." Cy Young one of the most admired Hall of Fame pitchers but his exploits on the mound need no extra elaborating here. Having an award named after you is testimony enough to his greatness. While some will argue he is not the greatest pitcher of all time, the title "All Time Great" is undebatable.

The E92 Dockman series is one of the most collected "E' sets. The 40-player roster presents a lengthy list of athletes who would eventually be honored with enshrinement into Cooperstown. They are among the more "common" by candy card standards but are far from being commonly found. As pieces of awe and amusement for the younger generation, finding card in excellent is a collecting coup. Card in NM or nicer are limited to being the fuel of dreams for all hobbyists except for a few.

This is a wonderful copy so well deserving of the SGC assessment. The attributes go on and on. The card is full factory 1-1/2" x 2-3/4." One sees just hints of wear at corner tips and that is under magnification. Surfaces are free of blemishes, stains and toning. The front frame is a glorious bright white. Colors are fresh, richly saturated and bold. Even print registration is precise resulting in a crisp portrait with fine detail. Graded SGC 86 NM+ 7.5, this card is not just one of the finest examples on record with SGC for Cy Young but for the entire set. The 1,300 Dockman submissions have generated just five cards in NM+ and three in NM/MT. (One of those three is in this auction.) Any serious fan of this set or of baseball's greatest pitcher has to make a serious effort in adding this card to their collection as one may not come along again. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
