    Description

    Only three graded higher!

1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Walter Johnson Hands at Chest PSA NM-MT 8. Marvelous portrait image captures the calm before the storm unleashed by the Big Train's rocket right arm, one that Ty Cobb called, "the most powerful arm ever turned loose in a ball park." Johnson is honored twice in the tobacco era's most celebrated issue and this is the rarer of the two, trailing the Portrait by eighty-six total examples at the time of this writing, according to the good folks at PSA.

Just three examples of this variation have surpassed the offered specimen on the PSA population charts, and this one is every bit their equal in terms of condition, with corners sharp enough to draw blood. We believe that the NM-MT 8 ruling comes as a result of slight imperfections in image registration and centering, faults that can be easily dismissed when remembering the antiquated production procedures of Dead Ball Era trading card manufacturing. In short, this card is indistinguishable in condition from the date of its production. An absolutely gorgeous example of one of the key cards from a "Big Three" issue.
