    Description

1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Nap Lajoie, With bat SGC 88 NM/MT 8 - Pop One, Only One Higher! Napoleon Lajoie was one of Cleveland's most beloved figures, so popular in his day that the ballclub was nicknamed the "Naps" in his honor. The team would take on its current "Indians" designation only upon his departure in 1915. The turn-of-the-century hero was renowned for being among the finest ballplayers both on and off the field. Lajoie's talents were at the top of the sport earning him elite status with others of his day such as Young, Mathewson, Johnson, Wagner and Cobb. Offered is the second highest graded T206 Lajoie (counting all brands and all three poses) on the SGC census account for well over 1,000 submissions! Our only condition note is some slight roughness to the top edge seen on the reverse. Graded SGC 88 NM/MT 8, again - counting all brands and all three poses - this is the lone NM/MT example with a single card recorded higher. Corners are extremely high quality as are the surfaces. His portrait is magnificent and perfectly centered. This is a powerful example destined for the T206 enthusiast who only wants the best.
