    Description

One of just a tiny handful known!

1909-11 T206 Polar Bear Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder Signed, PSA/DNA Authentic. There is no clear accounting of the population of known autographed Ty Cobb T206 representations, but our personal research has uncovered only two others. There's reason to suspect that one or two more are lurking in attics or unknown collections, but we'd be willing to bet that even Mordecai Brown could count them all with fingers to spare.

Let's remember--the iconic Georgia Peach passed away in 1961, well before the practice of collecting signed trading cards came into vogue. And those few signed trading cards that do surface in the collecting community typically trend toward later issues, like the 1950 Callahan and others produced when youngsters were pioneering autograph collecting through the mail.

This is perhaps our favorite trading card portrait of the Hall of Fame's first resident, the Dead Ball demigod armed with a thick-handled war club and a steely glare. It's a card that, even in considerably worn condition, would claim no shortage of suitors for its desirable Polar Bear back alone. But the black fountain pen signature is what truly sets it apart from the pack.

Cobb's signature remains as bold as the date of its application, a bona fide 9/10, elevating the relic to the upper reaches of even that skimpiest of supplies. His National League counterpart, the immortal Honus Wagner, seems downright common when comparing that short-printed population of five dozen or so to autographed Cobb representations. If you have ever dreamed of ownership, show up on Platinum Night ready to play to win. This may be the last chance you'll ever get. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Authentic.
