    Description

1909-11 T206 Old Mill Clark Griffith Portrait PSA NM-MT 8. A star pitcher during his youth, Griffith would develop into a successful manager and team owner after hanging up his spikes, giving his name to the Senators' home ballpark. Second only to his good friend Walter Johnson, Griffith rates among the most significant figures in Washington D.C. baseball history, and was the biggest star of the 1903 New York Highlanders, the team that would become the mighty Yankees.

Here he appears as a thirty-nine year old player/manager for the Cincinnati Reds, the team with which he would record his final decision, a loss, in his 237-146 career record. But 107 years later, this portrait explodes with the boldest orange and blue hues imaginable, perfectly framed between ivory-white borders. Back is the rare and desirable "Old Mill," the only confirmed example at this grade. It is one of only fifteen examples at a PSA NM-MT 8 rating, with just a single superior representation.
